Coral Canal (now Main Street), Venice Beach, California, circa 1920sThese days, Venice Beach is congested with so many people and vehicles that I wonder if it’s reached saturation point. It’s probably nice to live so close to the beach, but getting around is a high price to pay. But the people who lived in Venice Beach back in the 1920s, when this photo was taken, didn’t have to worry about any of that. This is Lion Canal, which was later paved over and renamed Windward Ave. It looks so wonderfully peaceful, doesn’t it?
