This shot was taken at the corner of 1st Street and Broadway in downtown L.A. circa 1890, where a stables and saddlery shop stands. Behind it, we can see the steep rise of Bunker Hill (which got lopped off half a century later.)

  1. Hi – Your comments re horse & buggy days reminded me of the place where I learned how to ride horseback; 1938. corner of Beverly Blvd & La Cienega. English of course. Then had my own horse (at LOP’s ranch) and rode Western from then on. Love, L
