Brown Derby restaurant/coffee shop, Wilshire Blvd, circa 1950s

Brown Derby restaurant/coffee shop, Wilshire Blvd, circa 1950sWe always see the original Brown Derby on Wilshire from the Alexandria Ave corner because the hat is so eye catching. But I thought I’d post this one because it shows us there was a whole other half to it. I also like the fact that we can glimpse the Chapman Park Hotel, which was a Garden of Allah type place that few people recall these days.

Can’t really put a finger on it, but I love this shot! Maybe it’s becuz like you said, Martin, it’s not an angle of this Brown Derby that’s been seen much in photos. Always love seeing the palm trees as they bring so much to vintage Los Angeles pics. The bricks outlining the greenery are a nice touch (to me)

    Thanks for finding this, Martin!
