Streetcar along Sunset Blvd out front of the Beverly Hills Hotel, circa 1912Here’s a bit of an LA mystery. Here we have a very early photo of the Beverly Hills Hotel, apparently from 1912, which is the year it opened. It’s interesting to see the venerated place with its lush gardens still so young and bare. But what stumps me is that streetcar rattling along out front. Since when did Sunset have a streetcar line?

    Hi Martin – Here’s a link with a lot of info and pics of the old streetcar lines in Hollywood. Looks like there is a small stretch of Sunset Blvd. where the cars ran.
