Googie’s Coffee Shop at Sunset Blvd and Crescent Heights, West Hollywood

Googie's Coffee Shop at Sunset Blvd and Crescent Heights, West HollywoodHere’s a pocket of LA history I wish I hadn’t missed out on: the corner of Sunset Blvd and Crescent Heights at the time when the southeast corner was home to both Schwab’s pharmacy and the Googie’s Coffee Shop whose quirky angles lent its name to a whole architectural style that became a distinctive addition to the Southern California landscape.

My grandparents lived right down the street and took me and my brother there many times. They had the usual coffee shop booths that I remember but I don’t remember anything special except the chocolate malts.
