Martin: Just came across this today, wonderful stuff. I was born in Long Beach in 1946, yes I am an old f**t! My parents were born in Venice California in 1915 / 18 and my grandfather was a conductor on the red train from LA to Venice . . . I also worked in the movie business from 1964 to 1971 as a professional extra / stand in and stunt work. The Hollywood stuff is great and many back-lot MGM TV and movies were done there. I will be looking forward to more from you at your leisure and will now go back over what I haven’t read. Thanks for the memories . . .

    • Hi Don, and thanks for your note. I’m glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed my postings. I must confess that I do enjoy collecting information and photos of this stuff. I find it endlessly interesting.

And if you do too, you might want to check out the series of novels I’m writing set in and around LA and Hollywood during the 20s, 30s and 40s: http://www.martinturnbull.com/sample-page/

I’m always adding new discoveries to my site – including a new photo each day on my Photo Blog page – http://www.martinturnbull.com/photo-blog/ – so feel free to come on back and check it out any time you like!
