“Theme Building” at LAX under construction in 1960/61The “Theme Building” at LAX being built in 1960/61. It opened in 1961. In 1992, it was designated as a cultural and historical monument, and in 1997, it underwent a $4 million renovation, with retro-futuristic interior and electric lighting designed by Walt Disney Imagineering. This is when the Encounter Restaurant opened. The restaurant is no longer open but the building is still there. I took the two photos below in February 2020:
