Aerial view of Wilshire Blvd, looking west from Commonwealth Ave, circa 1940s (?)

A westward view of Wilshire as seen from Commonwealth. Simon’s Sandwiches is at lower left, the Town House Hotel is opposite, and a block down the street is Bullock’sHere we have a west-looking view of Wilshire Boulevard as seen from Commonwealth Ave. The drive-in restaurant Simon’s is at the lower left, the Town House Hotel is opposite (a little past it but out of sight is the original Brown Derby) and a block down the street with the tower is Bullocks Wilshire. The Town House and Bullock’s buildings are still with us, although they’re no longer a hotel or a department store. I wish I had a year for this photo, but I’d say from the look of the cars, I want to say 1940s. With such little traffic on the roads maybe the wartime gasoline restrictions are in place?
