Sunset Plaza on the Sunset Strip, Los Angeles, 1940s

Sunset Plaza on the Sunset Strip, Los Angeles, 1940sThe central part of the Sunset Strip is known as Sunset Plaza, and is where some of the nicer, more boutique-y store could (and can) be found. One of the first to open their doors was Elizabeth Arden. That was in the 1930s. This photo was taken in the 40s when things were becoming more filled in—even the Hollywood hills in the background.

Martin, you mentioned Elizabeth Arden – have you seen this very 1930s shot? Wonder if that is a residence above the rooftop?
