Café Paulais, Hollywood Blvd, 1925. A little bit further back you can see Grauman’s Egyptian Theater, and beyond that Christie’s Hotel which was built 1922 to provide a luxurious inn for movie folk. Owned by the same Christies who owned the Nestor movie studios, it was the very first hotel in Hollywood to offer rooms that each came with a private bath, an innovation that was a tremendous luxury at the time.

Here is the Paulais menu, circa mid-1920s:
Hi Martin, Do you have any information on who owned Paulais? I’m doing some research on the Carl Curtis School, which opened at 8008 Beverly Blvd in 1925. There seems to be some connection with Paulais and Carl and Josephine Curtis around 1927… I’m wondering if they might have had a financial interest in it. Any information you might have would be appreciated.
Thank you!
