Culver Hotel, where Washington Blvd meets Culver Boulevard, Culver City, 1961. Back in 1939, when the “The Wizard of Oz” was being filmed down the street at MGM, it was called the Culver City Hotel. Most of the 124 midgets who played the Munchkins in the film stayed here. At the time, the six-story hotel was the Culver City’s only skyscraper.
