Graf Zellepin flying over Los Angeles, 1929

In 1929 the Graf Zeppelin circumnavigated the world. On August 8th, it landed in Los Angeles at Mines Field (now LAX airport) after flying in from Tokyo. The voyage made headlines around the world thanks to the sponsorship of newspaper magnate, William Randolph Hearst.
