The Igloo ice-cream parlor, located at 4302 W. Pico Blvd. I mean, really, if you’re going to open an ice cream parlor, you might as well make it in the shape of an igloo.
Back in the late ’20s of Los Angeles, there was nothing strange about stopping at an Inuit igloo flanked by polar bears sharing an iceberg topped by a stranded ship just to eat fancy ice cream as illustrated by Austrian actress Eva von Berne.
From the looks of Eva’s big grin and rubbing her tummy, it was pretty good eating!
Brought to the States in the late 1920s as a teenager by Thalberg and Shearer to become MGM’s “next Garbo” – which wasn’t meant to be – the beauty soon left the States and acting behind and went on to enjoy a successful career as an artist with numerous exhibitions in Austria and lived to be 100!
