Due in part to seismic concerns, the City of Los Angeles did not permit any other buildings to be taller than City Hall. Therefore, from its completion in 1928 until 1973, the City Hall was the tallest building in Los Angeles. But most people know it as the “Daily Planet” building from the 1950s ‘Superman’ TV series.
