Streecar at the corner of Laurel Canyon and Sunset Blvd, 1908
A street car comes to a stop at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Laurel Canyon in 1908. This corner represented the Los Angeles city limits and, for many years, would be the end of the street car line. Years later, the corner shown here would see both Schwab’s Pharmacy and the Garden of Allah hotel. (Side note: It is at this corner that my first novel in the Garden of Allah series – “The Garden on Sunset” – opens in 1927.)

  1. Al Donnelly says:

Fascinating point to begin at on any journey. ERHA pages give the line an extensive lineage back to narrow gauge pre-electric origins. All yanked out by 1924 and largely forgotten in the auto age.
