The Cream Can

The Cream Can
Novelty or eccentric architecture is more properly known as “mimetic architecture” but if you ask me, “mimetic” is way too boring a name. In my head, I tend to think of it as “crazy-ass-wtf-what-were-they-thinking” architecture and several of L.A.’s fine examples can be found elsewhere in this photo blog. This one—the Cream Can stand—I have no information other than the fact they also sold orange juice and “jumbo root beers.”

where was this stand located? where did the photo come from? where did you come up with the pic to comment on it?

    • I’m sorry but I don’t have any information to share with you. I don’t know where the Cream Can was, nor do I remember now where I found this photo. I spend a fair amount of time on various threads and sites like Tumblr.

The only info I could dig up was the building was built in 1928 and the photo came from the Los Angeles Public Library’s Photo Collection.
