I really love this photo of Nazimova but I’m not sure when it was taken. It was well after her grand silent movie days which is interesting because after 1925 she pretty much abandoned the movies (or did the movies abandon her?) and she didn’t make one until 1940, “Escape” with Robert Taylor and Norma Shearer (one of Shearer’s last movies.)
Update: the photo below was taken in 1931 for her Broadway appearance in “Mourning Becomes Electra.” Thanks to Jean Hunter for this wonderful find.
Elegantly beautiful. Such expressive eyes. Seems a hint of a tear in her left eye. Wonder what she was thinking while posing for this?
