According to Sheilah Graham’s book “The Garden of Allah”, Harry Ruby lived at the Garden of Allah for a while, probably in the 1930s. He was a writer both of music, songs and screenplays. The most notable films he wrote music for where the Marx Brothers’ movies “Animal Crackers” (1930), “Horse Feathers” (1932), and “Duck Soup” (1933); he also wrote the screenplays for the latter two. (Harpo Marx also lived at the Garden of Allah.) His most famous song was “I Wanna Be Loved by You” (1928) which was a hit for Helen Kane, known as the “Boop-boop-a-doop girl.”
