Organized by were Bette Davis and John Garfield, the Hollywood Canteen operated at 1451 Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood, from October 3, 1942, to November 22, 1945 as a club offering food, dancing and entertainment for servicemen who often got to dance with their favorite stars. This shot is of Rita Hayworth out the front of the Hollywood Canteen dressed in what looks like a dirndl which is a type of traditional dress worn in Germany. (I find that a little odd considering this was WWII and the Germans were the enemy. Still, she looks as lovely as ever.)
