Front entrance to the Hollywood Canteen on Cahuenga Blvd during WWII
The line to get in to the Hollywood Canteen was always long. And why not? A serviceman on leave from the military might get to dance with a real, live, genuine movie star like Bette Davis, Paulette Goddard or Marlene Dietrich. It opened at 1451 Cahuenga Boulevard on October 3, 1942 and all you needed to get in was your uniform. For more information, see: http://
