Hearst beach house on Santa Monica Beach, California
The Hearst beach house on Santa Monica beach that newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst built in the late 1920s for his mistress, actress Marion Davies. It was set on 5 acres and had 110 rooms because, you know, you can’t have enough rooms in your beach house, can you? As you can imagine, there were no end of lavish parties held at this place and the invitees were a Who’s Who of Hollywood. But of course eventually Hearst lost most of his money and sold the property in 1945 when it was run as a hotel. It was largely torn down in 1959 but part of it still remains and is now the Annenberg Community Beach House – http://
