Republic Studios in what is now Studio City, in the San Fernando Valley, circa 1935. Mack Sennett originally built the studios in 1928 and he owned them up his enterprise went bankrupt in 1933. Herbert J. Yates took over the site and in 1935 formed Republic Studios. These days it’s known as CBS Studio Center is where shows such as Seinfeld, Will and Grace, Roseanne, Malcolm in the Middle, and 3rd Rock from the Sun were filmed.
Yes it was filmed there.I was formerly in Distribution for MGM, Columbia, American International, New World, MGM!UA.When in LA I often visited all the studios and took in all the lots …some of which like Warner Bros.were very similar to their late ’30s-’40s classic film sets.
Is this where the early Leave it to Beaver neighborhood was at? I know later they filmed at the Universal back lot. Hope someone knows. Thanks
