Alan Hale Senior menaces poor Alla Nazimova in a movie version of Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” (1922), directed by her…ahem…husband, Charles Bryant. Hale later found fame as a character actor, esp in Errol Flynn’s Warner Bros pictures like “Robin Hood” and “Sea Hawk.” His son, Alan Hale Jr, found everlasting fame as the Skipper in “Gilligan’s Island.”
