Homes started to punctuate the Hollywood hills after the “Hollywoodland” development kickstarted things (but largely failed, at least initially) in 1924. This photo was probably taken in the mid-to-late-ish 1920s and we can see how the Hollywoodland sign is still good repair and clearly visible.
