The Wilshire Links was a mini golf course owned by Mary Pickford. It stood at Wilshire and La Cienega under a canopy of stylized palm trees and as we can see by this photo, it was an Art Deco paradise.
This next image is a screen-grab from a 1931 short, “Round About Hollywood,” which you can see HERE.
Thank you so much for rescuing these marvelous parts of our history that are no longer around (and too bad they are not here anymore!)
Thanks, Walter. I’m glad to know you’re enjoying these posts of mine. And yes, I’d LOVE it if this particular mini golf course was still around!
The actual location was the City of Beverly Hills, not adjacent Los Angeles.
Thanks Robert. I’ve retitled this post according.
When was it torn down and why?
I don’t know when it was torn down. But I assume it went because the land became too commercially valuable along that stretch of Wilshire for a mini golf course.
