Googie’s Coffee Shop next to Schwab’s Pharmacy near the corner of Sunset and Crescent Heights (and across the street from the Garden of Allah). Googie’s kooky style of architecture gave rise to its own form, a subdivision of futurist architecture influenced by car culture, jets, the Space Age, and the Atomic Age. This coffee shop opened in 1949 and was around until 1989. There is a fascinating website on Googie architecture here: http://www.spaceagecity.com/googie/
