American Women’s Volunteer Services Canteen, Olvera St, downtown Los Angeles, WWII

The Hollywood Canteen got all the attention but it wasn’t the only place that military guys could go during WWII. There was the Hollywood Guild and Canteen at 1284 N. Crescent Heights which was more commonly known as Mom Lehr’s. I’d never heard of the American Women’s Volunteer Services Canteen which was on Olvera St. in downtown L.A. until I came across this photo.
