El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. This photograph was taken in 1926, the year it opened as “Hollywood’s First Home of Spoken Drama”. It stayed a live theater until it was switched to a movie house in 1941 after hosting the Los Angeles premiere of Citizen Kane.
