Westmore’s Salon of Beauty at 6638 Sunset Boulevard (a couple of blocks east of Hollywood High School) was a beauty salon owned by the Westmore family of makeup fame. They opened this salon on April 16th, 1935. At one point, there was a Westmore son running the make-up department of each major Hollywood studio. Talk about your monopoly! The salon closed August 10, 1965.

About a mile away, at Sunset Blvd and Gordon St was the House of Westmore cosmetics plant which is where the line of Westmore cosmetics were manufactured.
