The corner of Olive and 5th Streets, downtown L.A. in 1910. The entrance to the popular Clune’s Theater (an early nickelodeon) is clearly visible on the left but what I really like about this photo is the streetcars and horse-drawn carriages existing side by site. The trees on the right line Pershing Square although the people in this photograph knew it as “Central Park” – it would be renamed “Pershing Square” in November 1918, a week after Armistice Day ended World War I.
