I’d always heard that there were two Kress five-and-dime stores on Hollywood Boulevard which struck me as odd. Why would they build two stores so close to each other? Then I discovered this photo. Turns out the second store, pictured here at 7046 Hollywood Boulevard, on the corner of Sycamore, was the Kress Drug Co, a drugstore. This store later became Leggets and the building is still there.
Believe that one also went over to Liggetts (United Drug Co. affiliated, Rexall brands) and they operated their own lunch counters/fountains. This looks like Sam may have gone strictly over to food service. (The other guy, Samuel H. Kress & Sons, ran the nationwide 5/10/25 with fountain/grill.)
