In Los Angeles, even supermarket openings get the Hollywood treatment. Spotlights greet customers to the opening of the Radio Center Market at 1334 Vine Street, Hollywood, not far from the Sunset and Vine corner where the NBC and CBS radio studios were located.
Do you have an approximate date for this photo? I’m researching the building and trying to discern when it switched from Willard’s to Radio Center Market. Thanks!
Laura – I’m sorry but I don’t have any information when it opened. I did some digging around – back when I posted this and just now – and can find nothing that gives us any dates. If you find the dates of either or both businesses, I’d love to know!
Thank you so much for looking. I do know that the building originally opened as “Willard’s,” and it as owned by former boxing champ Jess Willard. It was Radio Center Market by 1944, but it likely became RCM earlier. I also know that in 1955, it became Jerry Fairbanks Productions.

What’s the cross street here, and which is which?
This is just a guess, but I think that’s Afton to the right.
