It’d be hard to miss the Alex Theater in Glendale, California – not with that enormous spire showing you the way. The theater opened in 1927 but this photo was taken in 1942 when the Roz Russell/Fred MacMurray romcom, “Take A Letter, Darling” was playing. This movie also featured Robert Benchley, one of the more frequent residents (and frequently drunk residents) of the Garden of Allah.
