The very high-class Perino’s Restaurant at its 3927 Wilshire Blvd location before it moved to 4101 Wilshire. It was run by Alexander Perino who, following a stint at Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel, became headwaiter at Victor Hugo’s in Beverly Hills, then considered the finest restaurant in the city. However, Perino decided he could run a better place and opened his own in 1932. Apparently, he was right because the place lasted until 1969. Perino’s served French food but used no garlic—Perino hated it.
