The United Artists theater on Broadway in downtown L.A., 1927This is where United Artists (Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin, and DW Griffin) premiered their pictures. This photo was taken in 1927 when the theater opened with “My Best Girl” starring Mary Pickford and Buddy Rogers. The theater is still there—for a long time it was a church—and will now be incorporated into the Ace Hotel, due to open January 2014.
