West Hollywood (then called Sherman) in 1922

West Hollywood (then called Sherman) in 1922West Hollywood in 1922, when most of the land south of Sunset Boulevard was still vacant, except for that strip of development we can see along Crescent Heights over toward the right of the photo. Back in 1922, the area was still called Sherman—it didn’t get its new name of “West Hollywood” until 1925 when a vote was taken. One of the other names on the ballot was “Magnetic Springs” which I would have voted for!
