The era of the great Sunset Strip nightclubs was still going strong into the 50s. With places like the Mocambo and Crescendo, it was still the place to see and be seen. But of course at the top of the heap was Ciro’s, which we can see here on the left. The white building on the right is the Sunset Tower, which opened in 1931 as an apartment building and is now a hotel and one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in Los Angeles.
