The Willard H. George Co. Furriers store at 3330 Wilshire Boulevard (photographed here in 1931) was an art deco dream. He really took his furs seriously, especially Chinchilla. He was deemed “The Chinchilla Industry’s Greatest Friend” because he developed the first nationally used grading system for Chinchillas, which was formally adopted by the National Chinchilla Breeders Board in 1947. His salon’s slogan was “We search the earth for furs of worth.” Hey, at least it rhymes.
Thanks for the photos. I was looking for a photo of Willard George’s store. There were two other sites as well. The last store was the “Atelier” at 8928 Olympic Blvd.
Keep up the good work…we can not afford to lose our history.
I am Willard H George II , Willards oldest son . I never had a chance to see the building at 3330 . However I did see the building at 3630 Wiltshire , it was also Art Deco .
Hello Hampton,
It’s me…Sonya Mendez. I was reading about your late father’s legacy and suddenly came upon this page, and found your post.
Hope all is well with you.

Thanks for your note, and for your encouragement! I’m doing what I can!
Working on the restoration of this building. Need any interior pictures of the upper level space.
Thanks
