This is what the corner of Topanga Canyon Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway (or the Roosevelt Highway as it was still called back then) looked like in 1939. It probably took you most of the day to get there from downtown L.A. or Hollywood so the Topanga Beach Auto Court probably came in mighty handy. Mind you, if I was motoring around Los Angeles in this might automobile, I probably wouldn’t have minded much. I don’t know what like of car it is, but it looks perfect for a sunny Sunday Angelino drive.
My dad just told me about auto courts and described what they look like. I remembered this one on this page because I go by there a lot. Then I then googled, auto court Pacific Coast Highway and found this page.
It’s a Duesy! It’s a Duesenberg Model SJ (supercharged), probably the ultimate American made automobile of the time.
Wouldn’t you just LOVE to go for a spin in one of those!?!?!?

Thanks for stopping by, Ronald!
