Vine Street Brown Derby restaurant at night, 1944

Vine Street Brown Derby restaurant at night, 1944I doubt that I’ll ever get sick of seeing photos of the Brown Derby restaurant—especially atmospheric night shots like this one taken in 1944. This is the Vine Street Brown Derby, which sat on the eastern side of Vine, just south of the Hollywood and Vine corner. Oh, but how I wish it was still there . . .

Shots like this one really bring home how I wish I’d been around in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Would love to share a meal and conversation in its heyday with the likes of Gable and Harlow and so many many others. I’m just shaking my head at how many very important places like this one are now gone forever except in photos and hearts.

Thank you for posting these treasures!
