Rainbow pier, Long Beach, California

Aerial view of Long Beach from inland, showing Rainbow PierRainbow Pier was actually a rainbow-shaped breakwater with a roadway constructed along its crest, connecting Pine St. and the Long Beach Pier. I don’t know when this photo was taken, but the pier was finished in 1931. How lovely it must have been to take a Sunday afternoon stroll along the length of that pier.

Not only was it rainbow shaped, the lights along the pier lit up in rainbow colors.
