Normally, I stick to photos of Los Angeles taken during the era I write about – 1920s to 1950s – but this one taken Oct. 4, 1977 was too striking to skip over. This is Dodger Stadium for the first game of the National League Championship Series playoffs between the Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies. You can see the office towers of downtown L.A. looming in the background. It’s quite an image, isn’t it?
