You’d be forgiven for thinking that this staircase was in some European royal palace but in fact it was in perhaps the most palatial movie theater in L.A. – the Los Angeles Theater on Broadway in downtown L.A. It opened in 1931 with the premiere of Chaplin’s “City Lights” when going to the movies was a big night out. Below is a photo of the ladies lounge, which is equally gorgeous.
