Don the Beachcomber was a tropical themed bar, which stood at 1727 North McCadden Place, Hollywood from 1937 to 1958. Home to the Mai Tai and the Zombie, I used it as a location for one of the scene in my 3rd book, “Citizen Hollywood.” I hadn’t seen this photo when I wrote that book—interior photos of Don the Beachcomber are hard to come by—but I’m pleased to see it’s pretty much as I described it.
