3006 Wilshire Boulevard, just down from Bullocks Wilshire, 1929

3006 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, 1929These days, we tend to think of Wilshire Boulevard as being one super-long strip mall, store after store after store. But this photo (taken in 1929) shows the sorts of houses that used to sit along the stretch of Wilshire Boulevard where the Bullocks Wilshire department store sat. (The building itself is still there, however its no longer a store, but is a law library.)

I love these informal nothing special about them types of photos, but do wonder what was behind their being taken? Were they part of a newspaper or magazine article? A relative visiting LA and taking home mementos? Whatever the purpose, I am very happy these exist.

    Thank you, Martin.
