Interior of Thelma Todd’s Sidewalk Cafe, Pacific Palicades, circa mid-1930s

Interior of Thelma Todd's Sidewalk Cafe, Pacific Palicades, circa mid-1930sThelma Todd was a popular actress in the 1930s – known as “the Ice Cream Blonde.” In 1934, she opened a place in Pacific Palisades called Thelma Todd’s Sidewalk Café, a year before she died under mysterious circumstances. It’s not too hard to find photos of the outside of the café but I’ve never seen what it looked like on the inside until I found this photo. Miraculously, the building is still there—I wonder what it looks like inside now.

  1. The cafe’s interior design looks well- planned. The small tables have great utility and look prettier. Thanks for posting this photo. Keep posting such historic reminiscences of the past.

Very lovely. There’s a 1991 movie on Thelma. Here’s a fairly interesting article about her life.
