I found this photo of the Hollywood Hotel on Dave DeCaro’s Davelandweb site. It’s dated 1906, which makes it one of the earliest photos of the hotel that I’ve seen. There wasn’t much around back then, so a building this size must have really stuck out. In fact, back when this photo was taken, Hollywood Boulevard was still called Prospect Boulevard—it didn’t get its name change until 1910, when the town of Hollywood was annexed by the City of L.A.
Very inviting pic of the hotel as I’ve always had a pull for this place. My eye found somebody on the far lower left behind a porch rail perhaps taking some air which would be pure and fresh back in 1906!
Who would imagine this tranquil corner would turn into what it is today?
