This Van de Kamp bakeries and drive-ins were a large chain throughout Los Angeles. This one was located the corner of Fletcher Drive and San Fernando Road in Atwater Village. This night time shot was taken in 1954 and I’m guessing it really must have stood out. I love the neon windmill!
I can’t believe no other restaurant has copied Van de Kamps recipe for onion rings with chicken gravy. Those things were amazing and almost everyone ordered them.
