If you decided to take a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard in the early 1920s and stopped at the corner of Hollywood and Sycamore, this would have been your view. No Grauman’s Chinese Theater yet—that didn’t open until 1927. This photo is looking east up Hollywood Boulevard. The white building on your left is the luxurious Garden Court Apartments, home of some of early Hollywood’s biggest celebrities, including Louis B. Mayer, Rudolph Valentino and Lillian Gish. Each suite included a baby grand, oil paintings and oriental carpets. As we can see, Hollywood Boulevard is still very leafy and green.
