One of my favorite buildings in Los Angeles is Union Station, the railway station built in 1939 (it just celebrated its 75th anniversary) at the height of transcontinental rail travel. (After WWII, the preferred mode would switch more and more to air travel.) What I appreciate the most about Union Station is that it still looks the same then as it does now. This picture was taken on December 12th, 1939, but could have been taken last week.
